A 5 day culinary showcase of Utah, hosted by Mary and the Culinary Crafts team for the International Caterers Association. Maybe Utah is not the first place that comes to mind when you think of a culinary journey, but Mary Crafts can surely change your way of thinking. She showed us the crème de la crème of culinary sophistication in Salt Lake City.  From the Slide Ridge Honey Farm to the Beehive Cheese Factory to the Hive Winery, Utah certainly uses its Beehive State motto every chance it gets.  South Ridge Orchards provided a cider tasting, while Creminelli Sausage gave us authentic tastes of a wide variety of salumeria products… and don’t forget the famous Utah chocolates. I think we ate about a pound each! The executive chef at Culinary Crafts also provided a hands-on cooking class for all of us. It does appear that Utah has it all. But where is the wild west we heard about? Well we had time to head back to our hotel to don our best western boots and cowboy hats for a wild, full-scale, western barbecue catered by Culinary Crafts deep in the mountains – with a tasting of High West Whiskey, Utah’s finest.
