Greece

Greece – 2017
Greece and it’s Islands

We commenced the Greece trip in the capitol and largest city, Athens. We traveled the city trying frappe’s, Greek street food, a Feta tasting, seeing Lycabettus Hill – the Highest point in Athens, and an Ouzo tasting at the oldest distillery in Greece – BRETTOS. We visited the ancient citadel the Acropolis of Athens. Our next adventure entailed boarding a ferry for the day – 1 Day, 3 Islands – Hyrda, Poros, Aegina. Next we flew to Thessaloniki. Here we were extremely fortunate to meander through the mountains to the town of Serres and visit the Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos. We toured the beautiful grounds of the monastery and enjoyed an amazing “farm to table” lunch prepared by the Nuns.

Next stop, the volcanic island of Santorini. We visited a working “farm” which makes its own olive oil, cures olives, feta and produces wine. We took a detour one afternoon and rode donkeys before we went to dinner in Oia, watching the legendary sunset. Our visit was complete with a “yachting” excursion around Santorini. The trip was complete as we returned to Athens and had the opportunity to watch the changing of the guards in Syntagma Square.
