Backstage in Music City

Nashville, Tennessee is widely associated with country music, but there is far more to “Music City, USA” than country music.   Fortunately, the ICAEF has “connections” in this town. Monica & Chris Holmes, Chef Penelope and “Big Ed” Riley all provided outstanding events for our group of travelers. And there is one more not-so-secret ingredient that made this CLJ special.  Close by to Nashville is the home of the Jack Daniels distillery. Needless to say, this group paid special attention to our private tour and tasting at this distillery.  But back to the culinary side of the CLJ… You think you know barbecue? Nashville has its own version of barbecue – we got to taste several versions or it, including Jacks World Famous Bar-B-Que. When we were not eating (which was not often) we toured the Ryman Auditorium, The Country Music Hall of Fame, the famous RCA Studio B – and the Johnny Cash Museum. But what would a trip to Nashville be without a visit to several honky-tonks on lower Broadway – and we certainly had our fill of them. Just walking down Broadway, the sound of live music – at all hours of the day and night – pull you in to listen, have a beer, and soak up some Tennessee-style hospitality. This trip was truly a fun adventure.
